Gazimagusa – Famagusta is located on the East coast of Cyprus and has a long and fascinating history.

In the 3rd century BC Gazimagusa – Famagusta was founded by the Egyptians and was a town of significance, the city Kingdom of Salamis.
Gazimagusa – Famagusta became prosperous following an influx from the Holy Land of Christian refugees around 1291. From here it grew to become one of the wealthiest, successful, Eastern Mediterranean Cities. Due to its naturally deep watered harbour it benefited from becoming an important trading centre.
The city has many churches belonging to different religions.
