Alagadi
Northern Cyprus

 A well known area of North Cyprus for 2 reasons, firstly for the long stretch of public beach that is enjoyed by locals and tourists.  Located approximately 17km east of Kyrenia. Secondly, as the headquarters of the Marine and Turtle Conservation Project of Northern Cyprus whose base is located at “The Goat Shed”.  This is where visitors meet and are taken to the beach to watch the hatching of the turtles. Northern Cyprus beaches are very important for nesting turtles.

Green and loggerhead turtles lay their eggs at Alagadi beach during the summer months June – August and from August – October the turtles hatch. This has become a popular tourist attraction as visitors and tourists to North Cyprus have the opportunity to witness the hatching of the turtles.

Alagadi even today is unspoilt and an area of natural beauty in Northern Cyprus. Adding to its beauty is the wonderful view from the beach of the Five Finger Mountains.  This being a public beach and unlike any of the private beachesof North Cyprus, Alagadi beach hosts no sun beds or shades, here it is left to you to bring any extras you feel are necessary. A place where tourists will feel at home alongside local families’ pick-nicking or maybe even fishing in the med.

There is an area to park, and then it’s a short walk through impressive sand dunes to the sea.

Directions to Alagadi Beach, Northern Cyprus:

Head east from Kyrenia and pass through the village of Karakum, continue your journey on the main road to Catalkoy, eventually you will reach a junction that is sign posted to Acapulco Holiday Resort and Vogue Beach, Turn Left here, and pass Acapulco Holiday Resort, shortly after on the right, you will see a new road that leads down, and will take you to the turn of for Alagadi Beach.  Should you continue on this road it would eventually take you to Esentepe.  100 or so yards before Alagadi Beach and to the left is a well known Restaurant - St Kathleen’s which has always been highly recommended by tourists and locals alike.
