Bellapais Village and Bellapais Abbey
Northern Cyprus

Just a few miles from Central Kyrenia is a small but very well known village named Bellapais.  Put this down as a must to visit.   No tourist should leave Northern Cyprus without having visited Bellapais at least once.
Bellapais has to be one of the most beautiful and tranquil villages of North Cyprus.

The Beauty of Northern Cyprus Flora and Fauna

Nestled in the Kyrenia mountain range and yet only 4 miles to the coast. Here you will find ancient buildings mingled with tiny streets which can only make you wish to explore. The main feature of Bellapais has to be the Abbey. The Abbey at Bellapais is open for visitors of Northern Cyprus to explore and on special evenings becomes the venue for classical music concerts. 

Sit at one of the small Cypriot coffee shops and enjoy the feeling of a bygone age and whilst you sit relaxed allow yourself a little time to daydream, maybe follow the footsteps of Richard the Lion-Heart along one of the many crusader paths which criss-cross the mountain.  This village has so many items of interest. Very close by the Abbey you will find the ‘Tree of idleness’ where legend has it that should you sit under the tree you will become lethargic and so relaxed you would become unwilling to work.

Public transport is almost non existent in Bellapais and the easiest way to visit would be to take a taxi or drive. When you arrive at the village of Bellapais you should not find a problem parking as the village hosts two car parks.  

We couldn’t stop there without mentioning that Bellapais village has some of the most breathtaking views in the Kyrenia area during the day and very romantic views by night.
