The Wednesday Market at Girne North Cyprus Located very close to Bellapais and Ozankoy approximately 10 minutes drive to Girne town centre. You will find the village named Catalkoy.
Visit Catalkoy and you will certainly feel as though you have stepped back in time and have found a perfect Mediterranean village, with its quaint and pretty village square, whitewashed buildings, local convenience shops, restaurants and coffee bars. Catalkoy is one of the very popular places for visitors from the UK. A beautiful traditional Cypriot village with wonderful Mediterranean and mountain views. The village is in an elevated position and in some areas you could almost be forgiven for thinking that it was about to slip down into the sea.
There are many small beaches all around this area and although popular with local families and holidaymakers you will find these beaches are not over crowded and at times you could still find yourselves the only people on the beach.
At Catalkoy beach you will find a good quality open air restaurant which is a popular meeting place and where locals go to meet and enjoy each others company. There is a indoor restaurant, so should you wish to sit, watch some of the most wonderful sunsets whilst sipping a glass of wine or enjoying a meal, then this is the place for you to be.
Catalkoy is also the home of the Çatalköy Riding Club where you can learn how to ride a horse or for those who are more experienced maybe take a guided tour through the mountains on horseback.
White washed streets, a square surrounded by local coffee shops and restaurants, wonderful views, its own beach, friendly, helpful people, and only 10 minutes away from town, is it any wonder why Catalkoy has and always will be a popular place for UK visitors.
Apart from the excellent and varied restaurants and bars around the Catalkoy area, Catalkoy saw the opening of the fabulous Malpas five star hotel. Recently finished to a five star standard. Offering a wealth of amenities to resident and non-resident visitors. As with Catalkoy village, the Malpas Hotel is in an elevated position overlooking the sweeping and dramatic Mediterranean Sea views.
