Edremit

Time to close your eyes and picture a sleepy, pretty Cypriot mountainside village, and you are now thinking of Edremit.

Overlooking the Mediterranean, situated in the foothills of Hilarion Mountain is the village of Edremit.  A small tranquil village located halfway up the hill towards the Mountainside village of Karmi. Edremit has two small grocery stores where you might buy your daily produce and spend a few minutes for a chat.  There is also a well stocked village craft shop where traditional village crafts and activities can be seen.

We have just mentioned that Edremit sits in the foothill of Hilarion Mountain and so it must go without saying that this is the location of St. Hilarion castle.  But for the moment we will stay with Edremit. You will find details of St. Hilarion a little further on in this tourist guide.

Just below the village is the Hideaway Hotel with its pool, bar and restaurant.  These facilities are open for the use of non-residents.

Karaoglanoglu is approximately 1 mile down the hill, here you will find supermarkets, restaurants and of course what Cyprus for the holiday maker has to be about, sandy beaches.

For the keen walker around the vicinity of Edremit are lots of interesting and well marked walks. For those of you who prefer to drive and get into town, Edremit is only 3 miles from Girne/Kyrenia town centre.
