Karaman was known by the name of Karmi.
Karaman is a picturesque village and situated approximately 4 miles west of Kyrenia. It is 1,000 ft above sea level giving breathtaking views along the coast. Undoubtedly one the prettiest villages in
Sitting on the mountain above Kyrenia, nestled in the foothills of Besparmak which is known by the name The Five Finger Mountains all the houses have been restored in a traditional manner.

The village was declared in the 1980’s as a special tourist attraction when houses were rented mostly to the British and German residents to rebuild and renovate.
Here in this pretty village you will find a shop that stocks all the essential items and which also acts as the village post office. In addition to the local shop in Karaman you will find two restaurants and two bars.
There is a museum which is situated in the old Greek Orthodox Church, this is a small village and you could travel one end to the other within 5 minutes.
